Pirelli Tires’ Great Run of Racing Title Wins this Month

Pirelli is one of the oldest multinational tire manufacturing companies in the world today. It has recently been ranked as the fifth largest manufacturer and dates back its operations a far back as 1872. Its history in sponsoring racing championships is much greater than many other tire manufacturers’ experiences in tire making alone. Pirelli Tires started participating in motorsport championships in 1907. Since then it has taken center stage as the top name when it comes to rallies and race series. It has been the exclusive supplier of tires for the Formula One Championship since 2011 as well as the FIM World Superbike championships since 2007. It therefore goes without saying that racers using Pirelli tires are definitely in good hands. The various victories they have had this month can attest to this.

The Rally DeFrance One Two

It was a double win for Pirelli drivers Quentin Gilbert and Bernado Sousa at the WRC2 category of the Rally DeFrance. Quentin came first while Bernado took second place. Their edge over the competition was made clear by the two minute time difference between them and the third placed finisher in the race. They used the new hard compound RK5A tire which was launched in August. The RK series of tires is made in two options, the hard variety and the soft variety, both manufactured to comply specifically with WRC2 regulations. Gilbert was marking his first ever win on WRC2 after switching to Pirelli tires for the first time as well.

Hamilton Sweeps the Japanese Grand Prix

In the Japanese Grand Prix, celebrated Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton won first place on a set of Pirelli Cinturato tires. He used a combination of wet and intermediate Cinturato tires. Because of the rainy conditions of the race it was not possible to use medium or hard tires. Due to the extremely harsh weather conditions and crash incidents, Hamilton chose to use the Cinturato P7 Blue full wet tire. This is a double A rated tire, (the first of its kind) and it thus produces maximum wet braking ability while achieving good fuel efficiency.

Jolyon Palmer’s Victory at the Russian GP 2

One of the latest wins for Pirelli drivers was in Russia two weeks ago when Jolyon Palmer made it to first place in the GP2 series. He followed in the footsteps of his father Jonathan Palmer, who was also a Formula One champion that was fond of Pirelli tires. The feedback concerning the tires used by all drivers was positive considering that the race was taking place at a new venue. Mario Isola, a racing manager at Pirelli commented that the medium and soft tires exhibited great performance and durability throughout the series.
