Justin Lofton Wins on General Tires

The General Tire Vegas to Reno race is the longest off road race in the United States. To win this particular race, the driver has to be determined and endure over 500 miles of pure grit and obstacles. All this happens in just over nine hours from Vegas to Reno. This race is not for the faint hearted.

Fourth Win For Team General Tires in Four Years

The win marks Team General Tire’s fourth consecutive win in class 1500. Justin Lofton with the help of co-drivers, Wheeler Morgan, Donald Robison and Derek Balcunas crossed the finish line after exactly 9 hours. This puts him ahead of other drivers in his class.

Lofton had this to say after the win, “Winning the longest off-road race in the states is awesome.” He went further ahead to say, “We came so close last year that it just made me want it even more. I went 100% the entire race and it paid off.”

Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire was also proud of Lofton saying that racing in such an event is intense and for Lofton and his team to make it look easy is commendable. Roffler concluded by saying, “We applaud Justin and all our Team GT members for their tenacity and effort at one of the toughest races in America.”

Challenges during the Race

Winning this year’s edition was not an easy process for Lofton as the considerable rainfall had left sharp rocks and washouts on the course. He and his crew managed to navigate the North Las Vegas desert as they struggled to get their #Ahbeef buggy to the end, with some good off road and mud tires. Lofton said that this particular race was not that rough in terms of holes and whoops but it was rocky. Driving at high speeds through the terrain was particularly challenging for him.

Lofton was riding on General Grabber Tires. This win also makes the fourth year in a row the General Tires Grabbers have crossed the finish line first in the class 1500. Last year, CJ Hutchins won the race and Garrick Freitas won in 2011 and 2012. The Grabber Tires are meant for such terrains as they have high levels of traction for guaranteed off road durability and grip.

Other Drivers Using the Grabber Tires

The General Tires Grabbers were also used by other drivers during the race including Harley Letner who finished 13 minutes behind Lofton to secure a third place finish. The podium finish was Letner’s best in this extreme off road race. In class 8000 action, the durability of the Grabber was also seen as Macrae Glass recorded a win.

All in all, this was a good race for Team General Tires and we wish them even greater success in future.
