How to Install the Access TonnoSport Tonneau Cover

Access TonnoSport Tonneau Covers are low profile truck bed covers for modern trucks. These are a very low profile covers making them virtually invisible from the side or rear of the truck. They are designed and manufactured by Access, a renowned brand of aftermarket tonneau covers. Before we begin looking at the installation process, we will first list down the tools needed for this process. These tools include one half inch wrench, two nine-sixteenths wrenches, C clamps, and an impact or a rachet.

Install the Side Rails

The first thing to do is to install the side rails. When installing the side rails, make sure the striker faces the back (tailgate) while the two holes face the front. Place the rail on the driver’s side and align it with the truck bed edges. When you are satisfied with the alignment, use a clamp to hold it in place so that it does not fall down on you. Make sure you install two clamps, one on the back and the other one on the front to hold the rail.

Tighten the Clamps

After installing the clamps, you will have to tighten them in place. You will need a half-inch wrench to tighten these clamps. Make sure the clamps are eight inches from the front before tightening. When tightening the clamps, try as much as possible to keep them straightened. Next, go to the centre of the side rail and install another clamp. Before tightening this clamp, make sure the side rail is levelled. Install and tighten the last clamp on the rear of the side rail, roughly 8 inches from the back. Repeat this process on the other side of the truck bed.

Attach the Tensioners

Included in the Access TonnoSport Tonneau Cover package are the left and right tensioners. To install the tensioners, you will need two bolts and two washers. Put the washer onto the bolts and tighten the bolts, attach the tensioners and tighten them.

Install the Cover

Place the cover on top of the side rails. Grab the tensioners and slide them over to the centre and put the bolt in. Align the nut in the front bar with the slotted hole on the rail. Insert a bolt, flat and lock washer through the hole. Adjust the bar until the bolt is centred with the hole and tighten it. Repeat the process with the bolt on the other side. Roll the cover towards the tailgate and you are good to go.
