Construction

As we have discussed the Extang Emax soft folding tonneau covers has the ability to give full access to the truck bed. This is made possible by the construction approach used on it. It folds back fully to lie against the cab rear window once you release it from the side rails using its built in release latch. It will then remain in that vertical position with the support of its built in prop rods. Extang’s Emax tonneau cover also features components that can be found in the popular Extang Trifeca tonneau cover. These include Speed and Safety Klamps, WeatherTuff seals, I-beams and Maxhinges.

Installation

Installing Emax cannot get any simpler with use of its free installation manual that is available both online and with the purchase. It requires you to set up the side rails by positioning them with marking tape at an equal lateral distance on the bed then fastening the built in clamps on the rails to the truck bed. The same process is used on the tonno cover to fasten it onto the rails using spring clamps. The bows are then attached to the rail’s underbody flange by adjusting in built slam latches to tighten them up against the flange.

Performance

With the wide range of special patented components in Extang’s Emax tonno, the performance of the cover exceeds expectations. Its Secure Shut latches are made to keep the cover sealed tightly against the rails and with the impervious skin material covering the frame of the cover, fluids such as water cannot leak into the truck bed.
