Installing the Roll N Lock M-Series Cover

Installing the Roll N Lock M-Series Cover

After buying the Roll N Lock M-series cover, the next step is to install it on your truck. Before beginning the installation process, it is important to counter check the package to ensure every required part is included. Only after it is confirmed that all parts are there should the installation process begin.

Modify the Bed liner If Necessary

Since most truck have plastic bed liners already installed, a little modification is required if the M-series cover is to fit. Start by removing the bed liner from the truck and mark the depth of the Roll N Lock housing on the outside of the liner. Using a straight edge, connect the different marks on the outside of the bed liner. This helps create a continuous horizontal cut line to guide you.

After drawing the horizontal line, start cutting to remove the marked portion of the bed liner. Refer to the installation guide for the exact measurements for cutting.

Install the Housing

After cutting the bed liner, place the housing assembly on to the bed rails and center it. Do not fasten it at this point, but rather just let it stay unsecured with the lid removed. Make sure there is some space left between the bulkhead and the back of the housing. After that, remove and discard the plastic packing bolts.

Install the Tracks

Before installing the tracks, make sure the pull strap is connected to the shipping stud. If this is done, rotate the lock lever to the 10 o’clock position. Remove the L-shaped sections of the clamps that are taped on the bottom of the tracks. Lay them on the bed in the exact order you followed when removing them from the tracks. Place the tracks on the bed rails and key them onto the Housing Stems. Make sure the Handle is properly engaged into the tracks before proceeding. Attach the clamps loosely to the tracks to make sure they do not fall off while proceeding. Secure the tracks to the Housing Stems using truss head screws and cargo nuts.

Install the Tailgate Extrusion

Locate and mark the centre of the tailgate and the tailgate extrusion using a tape measure. Centre the tailgate extrusion on the tailgate and use the self-taping screws and a power screw gun to secure the tailgate extrusion to the tailgate. After securing the tailgate extrusion, carefully close the tailgate.

Orient the Tracks to the Tailgate

On the front of the bed, lift up slightly on the housing and move each side backwards towards the tailgate. Make sure the inside of the tailgate and the track end-caps are in contact. At this point, the tailgate extrusion end-caps and the track end-cap metal blocks should be in contact. Tighten the clamps while ensuring the tracks remain levelled.

Install the Lid

Rotate the lock lever to the 7 o’clock position. Remove the plastic wing nut and detach the Pull Strap from the threaded Stud. Pull the Cover and latch it to the tailgate. Close the lid of the housing and secure it with screws.

Install the Cargo Shield and Drain Tubes

Use the 14-20 x 1/2” truss head screws and rubber washers provided to secure the Cargo Shield. Make sure the rubber washers are on the inner part of the cargo shield. Drill two holes for the drain holes in the bulkhead panel and align them with the drain fittings that can be seen on the bottom of the housing assembly.

Connect the Pull Strap

Using the hook provided, make sure the pull strap is securely clipped to a fixed point of the bed. With the pull strap connected, the Roll N Lock M-Series cover is fully installed and ready to use.
