Pimping Ain't Easy, Unless You Have TIS Wheels

In the 70s, pimping became legitimate. It became important and stylish. Films like Shaft and Super Fly chilled out the big screen, while music acts like Curtis Mayfield and James Brown brought electricity to peoples’ lives. Of course, none of these figures or films would have stood for anything if they didn’t have an equally bada** ride.

During the 70s, classic pimped out cars like the ’75 Cadillac Coupe De Ville were the perfect accessory for a man trying to up his game. That’s because these cars were a sign of rebellion. Author Jeremiah Birnbaum says of the Pimpmobile phenomenon, “A car as representative of the true underlying power and worth of an individual stuck in terrible socioeconomic circumstances was a raised middle finger against the Man, through expression of pure individuality with severe customizations upon said vehicle.”

Pimping Today

These perceptions and this attitude still exist today. Actually, they’re even stronger now because they’ve been passed down from the previous generation, cementing the rebellion deep inside of us. We all love to stick our middle finger up at the man.  Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker, who is a self-proclaimed Cadillac and Pimpmobile fanatic, was recently profiled in Dub Magazine.

The article says, “Besides his passion for drumming, Travis’ other love is cars, especially old school rides (preferably Cadillacs), a trait he inherited from his father. ‘My pops loved cars, and between looking at car magazines and the old rusted Cadillac we had in the backyard, it was something that naturally caught my attention.’”

Today, Barker’s passion has grown to monumental proportions. Some of his current rides include a ’66 Cadillac Coupe de Ville, a ’51 Chevy truck, a ’64 Riviera, and a ’63 Impala. And in accordance with his love for pimped out rides, Barker has upgraded all of these to the max. Barker has incorporated performance shocks, custom grilles, and smooth, candy paint jobs. For his wheel (the most important accessory to a chill ride), the Blink 182 drummer always sticks to TIS Wheels, the coolest aftermarket accessory available.

TIS Wheels

Currently, TIS Wheels is the go-to wheel for anybody trying to stylize their car. In fact, they have partnerships with some of the coolest Mamma Jammas in the world including Darryl McDaniels of Run D.M.C., Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carmelo Anthony, and Snoop Dogg.  Like Travis Barker, all of these stars were brought up to stick their middle finger up at the man, and they know that there’s no better way to do this than picking up a set of TIS Wheels.
