Mickey Thompson’s Concise Collection of Wheels for the Off-Roader

Born from the grand vision of a celebrated off road legend the Mickey Thompson line of wheels is a true testament of functional finesse. Decades after Mickey Thompson Tires and Wheels was established, the company has evolved to include both off road and street wheels in its catalog. When Mickey started his line of wheels he has come from a background of mechanical innovation that included modeling custom vehicles. This was aimed at tweaking the most fundamental elements of a vehicle to gear it for championships.

A good example was the Indy 500 cars he built that won him a Mechanical Achievement Award for original construction. The wheels are made with the kind of material that can satisfy an off road truck’s driving demands. They are made to match Mickey Thompson tires to create the perfect combination for your suspension system. In addition to this they are made to resemble steel wheels but are constructed with cast aluminum alloy.

Classic Wheels

Mickey Thompson’s Classic wheels are made with holed dishes instead of spokes in the center. This is the original steel wheel design that is featured on most forged steel off road wheels. With a cast aluminum construction the wheel is weldable into a custom shape that is more stylish. The models under the Classic series include the Classic III, Classic Big Rig and the Classic Baja Lock Wheel. The Classic III is made with a plain uniform color and is available in either polished chrome or black. The Classic Baja Lock is lined with beadlocks and features a machined face on the lip. The Big Rig is a beefed up edition in the Classic Wheel collection. It comes in one large 20 inch by 9 inch size specification and a high load rating of 3100 pounds.

Sidebiter

The Classic wheel is not the only series of truck wheels from Mickey Thompson. The Sidebiter is another truck model that is made to work for heavy duty applications and is fitted on Jeeps, truck and 4X4 vehicles. The Sidebiter is made with a low pressure casting technique to maximize on its sturdiness. This is purposively created to contain the kind of forces exerted by off road truck bodies on bumpy terrains. In contrast to the Classic series, the Sidebiter has a spoke design. Its seven spoke structure consists of satin black spokes with square holes. They are all made in a homogenous satin black finish and four rim sizes including 15, 16, 18 and 20 inches.
