All About Lift Kits

For the last 25 years, trucks have become more fuel efficient, more powerful, more complicated, and also more comfortable. However, most truck owners still require lift kits in order to improve off-road capability without interfering with payload capacity or towing capacity. Even though lift kits reduce gas mileage to a certain extent, the reduction is not bad for your truck. This is because it does not affect your ride’s performance.

There are various reasons why you should add a lift kit to your truck.

However, before you purchase a lift kit, there are various things that you need to consider

Spacer Lift Kits

Spacer lift kits make use of a small spacer above or in the spring that make your truck to be lifted about three inches high. The lifts are affordable and because their size is relatively moderate, they do not have much effect on the highway performance or gas mileage. However, spacers do not provide you with great height and hence you will have to invest in a new set of tires or wheels in order to maintain aesthetics.

Bracket Lift Kits

If you want give your truck a substantial amount of lift, then bracket lift kit is the best choice for you. These lift kits offer your about six inches or eight inches of lift. They are called bracket because installing them requires you to add series of brackets to the frame of your truck. Furthermore, you are required to cut your truck’s frame in order to finish the installation.

However, despite their benefits, there are disadvantages of bracket lift kits. You cannot easily undone these lift kits without spending a lot of money and time. Furthermore, they are likely to compromise the original frame of your truck and if you fail to install them well, then your truck is likely to be weaker.

Additionally, they are likely to raise the center of gravity of your truck and this is not ideal for off-road performance.
