Adam McGill Propels Cheng Shin Tires to First Ever Victory at GNCC

At round 9 of the GNCC held in Snowshoe, West Virginia, Adam McGill who was sponsored by Cheng Shin tires helped the company bag its first victory at the GNCC. The event was held on June 21 and was very crucial for McGill, who had come second during the previous event held at Millfield, Ohio. This round was also critical as Snowshoe is considered to be one of the most challenging off-road stops in the series.

“Grand Prix” Style Start and a Competitive Start

Cheng Shin wins big
In Snowshoe, the starting procedure is different from the rest as it is based on overall championship points standing. The riders are also placed in a “grand prix” style start position in rows of five. This allows 10 seconds between each row in a true racing style pattern.

As the race started the former Snowshoe GNCC winner, Brian Wolf was the favorite to win, as he quickly jumped to first position for the first few laps. This did not go well with Walker Fowler who tried his hardest to regain the first position. All this time, Chris Borich who is the reigning champion and points leader was closing in at second place with Jay Shadron coming in third.

McGill Jumps to First Position

Fowler snapped his chain at one time in the race giving McGill the opportunity he needed to surge up to first position. By the time the group checked in for lap 3 Fowler, Borich and Shadron were nowhere to be seen. For most parts of the afternoon, McGill and Wolf were trading the first position back and forth.

By the last lap, the two were clearly the favorites to win as they were neck-and-neck separating themselves from the rest of the pack. Towards the end, McGill managed to push with his CST Pulse tires to first position and stayed there for the rest of the race. This win is McGill’s third at Snowshoe and first this season.

Acknowledging the win, McGill said, “It’s such an amazing feeling to do this in front of the fans here in West Virginia, Snowshoe has always been good to me!”

The win in West Virginia helped McGill gain some points in the overall national championship standings where he currently sits at position 3 with 183 points. This puts him behind Borich and Fowler who have 212 and 188 points respectively.

After this race, the series will take a break for the summer and come back in October for the other rounds.
