3 Examples of Goodyear Wrangler’s Tire Design

Goodyear is a respected leader in the tire manufacturing industry. They have been in business for over 100 years. One thing that those 100 years have taught the company is that innovation in technology can produce driving solutions that beat the odds. That is why Goodyear Wrangler tires are intensively fitted with the latest tire engineering technology including Run on Flat technology, Dupont Kevlar and TractiveGroove technology. As a result, the tire line-up on the Goodyear Wrangler collection includes never before seen tread designs that are purposely made to provide environment-specific driving solutions. Let us now take a look at how three of Goodyear Wrangler’s tire series have incorporated the outstanding design approach.

Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac

The first thing that catches the eye about Goodyear Duratrac series is the middle tread area. This area is designed with TractiveGroove technology and thus combines all the elements that make a good off road tire. The tread pattern at the mid-section of the Duratrac tire is a mesh of diagonally intersecting blocks that are irregularly positioned. What this does is maximize traction and add resistance against wet surfaces to induce maximum lateral stability. In addition to this, the Goodyear Wrangler Duractrac is made with self cleaning shoulder blocks that keeping their traction capabilities effective no matter the distance covered.

Goodyear Wrangler MT/R

The tread design on the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R is split into two halves. One half has a set of solid blocks that are closely knit while the other half has loosely spaced tread blocks that are siped in the middle to increase the tire’s traction. Both halves are tipped diagonally into each other to create a unidirectional pattern for optimized performance and clearance. The sidewalls of the Goodyear Wrangle MT/R infuse Dupont Kevlar technology and are thus puncture resistance. A similar design is also found on its sister model, the Goodyear Military Wrangler MT/R.

Goodyear Wrangler Radial

Just as its name suggests, the Goodyear Wrangler Radial makes the most use of radial tire technology. This in effect makes the tire as puncture resistance and robust as possible. With its small width, the Goodyear Wrangler Radial is capable of producing exceptional performance on highways for an extensive period of usage. It is also geared for mud trails due to its uniform interlocking tread pattern. The tread blocks on the Goodyear Wrangler are designed like staircases and interlock into each other. There is no different between the treads in the mid rib and shoulder and thus the traction levels are even throughout the tire’s width.
