Hines also won the title in 2004-2006, riding a Harley Davidson V-Rod motorcycle. This fourth Mello Yello title ranks Hines second only to David Schultz in the Championship’s history. Schultz won six title championships before his death. The victorious Hines earned top seed in the six race elimination round up, followed by two wins in the last three races of the Countdown. He garnered a total of 2689 points; with his team mate Ed Krawiec coming in second with 2620 points. Lucas Oil Buell rider Hector Arano Jr. came in third with 2472 points and Nitro Fish’s Matt Smith was fourth with 2416 points.

Ed Krawiec Takes Second

In an interview conducted with Hines after his big win he spoke highly of his team mate Krawiec, saying. “…I’m also thankful for a great teammate in Eddie Krawiec. He’s a three-time champion, and he pushes me to better myself.” Krawiec had a good season as well, clinching five out of eight of his final round appearances, second seed in the Countdown and second overall in the Championships.

In his interview, Krawiec observed, “I can’t complain after this season. I think I’ve been to the Pomona final seven straight years, and have either gone home with a big Wally for the championship or the little Wally for the race. This year I got no Wally, but I do have the number 2 plate, and I’m already on to 2015 and ready to race for another title.”

The Vance & Hines Advantage
