Motegi Wheels Racer, Anthony Lazzaro, Finishes Third

Anthony Lazzaro of Motegi Racing Wheels had an amazing day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course during the SCCA Pirelli World Challenge race on Sunday August 3rd. He pulled some daring manoeuvres and finished at third place. The win has helped him climb to the third place overall in the GT class championship standings for the season.

Lazzaro was driving in his No. 61 R. Ferri Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 equipped with Motegi Racing wheels. He managed to pass both Andrew Palmer and Johnny O'Connell in one clean sweep on lap 12 to move to the third position where he stayed for the remainder of the race. This move was in the end awarded the invisible Glass Clean Pass of the entire event. The third place finish marked Lazzaro’s sixth podium finish this year.

As he climbed from the fifth to the third place in the Driver championship standings, Lazzaro has tied with Palmer at 1039 points. This puts them 7 points behind second contender holder, Mike Skeen who has 1046 points. O’Connell who has 1,228 points holds the top spot.

Lazzaro had this to say about the win, “We are on a roller coaster as far as performance. Sometime we get it and sometimes we don't. Today we were still slightly missing something, but we started sixth and ended up third.” He also went ahead to say that the durability of Motegi wheels was not tested this time as he did not hit anybody. He also said that there was a possibility of heading to Miller Motorsports Park to test the wheels before heading to Sonoma Raceway in august 22-24 for the next race.

Another Motegi Tire sponsored driver in the race was Henrik Hedman. He was in his No. 10 DragonSpeed Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 equipped with Motegi racing tires but unfortunately fell out of the points lead as he finished a distant eight. Going to Ohio, Hedman was the GT-A points leader, but the competition proved to be too much for him. Headman said, the race was bad for him but he is looking forward to the next one in Sonoma. He said that Sonoma will be the first track this year that he has driven on before so he will enjoy it a little bit.

Dan Knox, Motegi driver, was also in the race and had a good run finishing fifth on both GT-A races held at Mid-Ohio. He was in his No. 80 Riley Motorsports ACS Mfg/Performance Speed Tech Dodge Viper SRT GT3-R and the win increases his points to 536 putting him third in the Driver championship standings.
