Keystone Automotive Rolls Out New Keystone Wheels

For the past 40 years the Pennsylvania-based company, Keystone Automotive has been changing the aftermarket automotive industry.  The company started small, their first operation was a local auto parts store outside of Philadelphia, but that was many years ago. Today, the company is the single largest warehouse distributor of parts in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

Keystone’s history begins with a father and son who opened their first store together. Joe Amato Sr., a native of northeastern Pennsylvania, opened the first Keystone Store, called A&A (Amato and Amato) in the early 1960s that store had enough space to serve as a distribution center for other enthusiasts get together in the community

Several years later, Joe’s son Joe Jr. became a partner in the family business. Joe Jr. was passionate about drag racing but he was also devoted to building his family legacy.  Following his passion for racing, he created S&S Speed, which was devoted exclusively to speed and performance parts. As Joe Jr. achieved status on the drag racing circuit, the Amato businesses grew and so did the number of automotive and speed enthusiasts employed by the Amato’s. Today, enthusiasts can still buy “go fast” parts with the Keystone insignia.

In 1971, the Amato family businesses evolved into the Keystone Automotive Operations, Inc that we know today. The Amato’s continued to focus on the distribution of aftermarket parts and was able to expand rapidly in all areas of inventory and customer service. It’s because of this rapid growth that Keystone to partner with 4WheelOnline to offer an exciting line of wheels for customers today.

Keystone Becomes a Regular at SEMA

For car nuts, speed freaks and industry dudes, November is the most exciting month of the year. For most of the world, November is time to watch leaves change, eat turkey and strap on snow boots, but for the others it is a time to hop on a flight to Las Vegas, meet up with old friends and check out the very latest that the automotive industry has to offer.

Every year since 1967, the automotive world meets up at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) to talk shop and discuss what’s next for partnerships and race teams. Last year’s 2013 show featured 2,500 exhibitors and exceeded 130,000 onlookers, the majority of which are small business owners looking to upgrade their company. The event has become less of an automotive show, and more emerged as a testament to the power of America’s aftermarket support.

“SEMA’S the largest annual gathering of small businesses in the United States... We have a comprehensive international relations program to help U.S. manufacturers connect with buyers in the most relevant markets,” says Peter MAcGillivray, SEMA’s vice president.

At the event, we were able to reconnect with our friends at Keystone Automotive, even though the rest of the crowd was fighting for their attention, too.
