Cobra Exhaust Review- They Will Help You Avoid Tickets

easyriderIf you’re cruising the countryside like these hippie legends, you’re going to want to make sure that your exhaust system meets all of the regulations.

Touring the open, vast United States is a dream for most Americans. There is no better way to make this pilgrimage than on a motorcycle. Motorcycles let you come face to face with the country and all of its different landscapes and cities. If you are planning on taking a trip with your motorcycle, it’s important that you make sure that your bike and its exhaust systemis in compliance with the ever expanding laws.

The Motorcycle Anti-Tampering Act

In 2010, former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, signed the Motorcycle Anti-Tampering Act. It was one of his final pieces of legislation. Starting on January 1st of 2013, this law gave police the right to ticket bikers who have non-compliant exhaust systems. Senator Fran Pavely sponsored the bill and said, “Current state and federal noise control statutes are rarely and unevenly enforced…[EPA labels will be required as a] readily visible indication of whether a motorcycle has been tampered with.” Currently, there are a number of states that are placing restrictions on the exhaust systems. For example, Florida requires that “no modifications which increase sound to a level higher than the manufacturer’s original standard are allowed.” For any rider out there, this means that you need to be aware of each state’s motorcycle exhaust laws before riding through.

Cobra Has the Answers to This Problem

Currently one of the best exhaust systems available comes from Cobra Exhaust Systems. Cobra exhausts come in a variety of formats that are aimed at fitting your specific needs and making sure that you don’t violate the law. Some of these varieties include:
cobraexhaustCobra produces a wide range of products that will help their customers find exactly what they need.
  1. Dragster Exhausts- these are easily installed classic drag style pipes that are aimed at enhancing sound. They feature 2.5 inch heat shields with a 222 wrap around for a non-bluing appearance.
  2. Slip-On Mufflers- These slip on mufflers come in 3 and 4 inch chrome variations. They are radially slashed and feature chrome billet tips that are indexed for multiple positions.
  3. Quiet Core- Regular Exhausts- have a perforated steel construction and will reduce sound by 3-5 decibels.
  4. Speedster Exhausts- these include oxygen sensor bungs and a Powerport crossover that provides power boost across the entire RPM range.
Having these different variations will allow you to adapt to your environment. For states with higher restrictions, you may want to consider the quiet core exhausts or the slip on mufflers (they can easily be altered on the fly). For states with more lax laws, you can amp up your exhaust system with the dragster and speedster exhaust systems. Either way, Cobra has worked on producing the best variety of exhausts to help you in today’s world.
