Vision Wheels and V-Tec Are Not Scared of the Baja 500

The Baja 500 is one of today’s most dangerous and anticipated off road races. Annually held on Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula, this race has become folkloric amongst gear heads with stories about booby traps and fatal accidents always encircling the big day. In fact, in the dry, dusty deserts, it has actually become common knowledge and expected that dangerous booby traps will be set up by spectators and rival racing teams.

Last year, this tradition ended in tragedy when racer and 3 time Hounds & Hare champion Kurt Caselli was killed because of one of the traps. Towards the end of the race, Caselli hit an unmarked booby trap and crashed his vehicle. He was then rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, it was too late.

In an article from Jalopnik, author Michael Ballaban writes, “Booby traps are not uncommon to the Baja. Locals dig holes or build ramps or build obstacles not always with the intent to injure, but sometimes with the intent to create an opportunity for entertainment. They’re often haphazardly built, and with a complete disregard for safety.”

With all of this potential danger, who in their right mind would ever want to take on this course?

Vision Wheels and V-Tec Want the Baja Challenge

Vision Wheels Inc. is one of today’s most respected wheel brands, producing the critically acclaimed V-Tec off-road wheels. So, I guess it’s no surprise that Vision is not only unafraid of the Baja terrain, but they are actually excited to take on the challenge.

Around the industry, V-Tec Wheels are often regarded as a premier off-roading wheel, capable of handling any type of terrain.

Aftermarket wheel insider, Jon Aragon, says, “If I needed to take my truck out off-roading through some of the world’s most dangerous terrain, I know I’d need a wheel that could handle the pressure. And right at the top of my list of go-to wheels would have to be V-Tec.” Undoubtedly, Aragon named V-Tec because their wheels feature an extremely rigid, strong design with load ratings up near 4000 pounds!

Due to these capabilities and design, Vision Wheels Inc. has become a year-in and year-out staple at the Baja races. Check out the image to the right of this year’s Vision vehicle! Vision Wheels Inc. only competes at the Baja Races because they believe that their products are the very best, and they know that they are capable of handling the most wild and unpredictable terrain on earth. For customers of Vision Wheels and fans of the V-Tec, it’s good to know that there is confidence in these wheels.
