ATV Exhaust Maintenance Tips for Better Performance
Keeping your ATV performing as expected involves a lot of tips and tricks. One of these involves keeping the exhaust performing well and at full potential. To keep the
ATV exhaust
performing as expected is not a difficult thing, but there are some few steps that need to be observed for better results.
Below are some of the tips and tricks you need to tweak and ensure your ATV exhaust performs as expected.
Ensure Proper Installation
Just like any mechanical equipment, ATV exhausts need to be installed properly if they are to perform as you expect them to. Most ATV exhausts such as the Big Gun
ATV exhausts
are easy to install without using any special tools. This does not mean that every installation is the right one, as mistakes can happen sometimes. For proper installation, each exhaust kit comes with an installation guide.
If an ATV exhaust is not installed properly, it may leak and cause lean conditions, meaning that there will be very little fuel for the amount of air that goes in. If this happens, it may cause too much heat that may damage other engine components.
Tighten Your Nuts and Bolts
After installing your exhaust, it is important to tighten its nuts and bolts. Tightening the nuts and bolts properly ensures the exhaust is able to function as expected at all times. If the nuts and bolts are not properly tightened, the exhaust may malfunction at some point in time.
Silencer Packing
The silencer is an important accessory because it reduces the exhaust noise and also ensures the exhaust performs properly. This is why it is important to repack your exhaust every so often and ensure the silencer is reliable. How often you repack your exhaust and change the silencer, of course, depends on how much you use your ATV. Making these changes will ensure your exhaust is always performing at expected levels that lead to high performance levels of your ATV.
Proper Jetting
To help your ATV perform better than it currently is, it is important to allow fuel to flow efficiently through the engine. Ensuring proper jetting is one of the key steps that lead to proper performance of your ATV because it allows the proper air-fuel mixture. This is especially so for free flowing exhausts that need more fuel to ensure the air-fuel mixture is balanced. This is why proper jetting is one of the most important steps to take when maintaining your exhaust and ensuring your ATV generates more power.
Most exhausts will have the exact requirements that will help you set up to ensure the jetting process is not affected.
If you have any more questions about ATV exhausts make sure that you give us a call at 4wheelonine so we can help. (813) 769-2451
