Vance and Hines Team Members, Hines and Krawiec, Shine in Texas

The Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/ Vance & Hines Pro Stock team had an amazing run at the AAA NHRA Texas Fall Nationals at Texas Motorplex. The team had two wins by the end of the event and saw its riders exchange the points lead between each other. This was quite a weekend for the team given the competitive nature of the event.

Rescheduled Elimination Rounds

Both Andrew Hines and Ed Krawiec are members of the Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines team and they competed against each other as if they were from different teams. During the earlier stages of the event, Andrew Hines, lost the points lead to his team member, Ed Krawiec, but he managed to regain it in less than 24 hours. Krawiec won the rain-delayed elimination rounds held on Saturday 20th September. These rounds were pushed forward to this date as the previously date of September 14 saw too much rain.

The September 14 elimination rounds were also supposed to take place at the Pep Boys NHRA Carolina Nationals in Charlotte. Instead, they were pushed to the Texas Motorplex. Krawiec had been the top qualifier in Charlotte and managed to defeat his teammate, Hines, in the semi final round. He kept his momentum and went ahead to record a win over Steve Johnson who was in a Suzuki. This was the third victory in a row for Krawiec and his fourth final round victory. As they went to the first of the six countdown events, Hines was the top speed but by Saturday evening, Krawiec had taken a 23-point lead over him.

Sunday Elimination Rounds

Krawiec maintained his momentum and emerged the top qualifier for the Sunday’s elimination rounds with a time of 6.841 seconds. This winning streak unfortunately came to an end in the first round as he double-clutched at the starting line. Freddie Camarena of Danny Griego/Amerimonte Records who was in a Suzuki took the opportunity and had his first win.

Hines on his part went to the final after defeating Hector Arana, Jerry Savoie and Scott Pollacheck. He was to face Johnson but the Suzuki rider failed to make it to the starting line in time as he was not done changing his engine. It just happened that the no show by Johnson was advantageous for Hines as he experienced transmission issues when he completed the solo pass. He crossed the finish line after 7.571 seconds to emerge the overall winner.

In the points standing, Hines is still the leader in the Pro Stock Motorcycle class with 2302 points. Krawiec comes in second with 2257 points followed by Johnson with 2198 points.
