How to Install Truck Bed Rails
Benefits of Truck Bed Rails
Truck bed rails
are the perfect tool for securing cargo, which is great for avoiding tickets and helping your buddies move furniture. Bed rails are also great because they give drivers more tie down area and help to protect a truck’s coat of paint from being scratched.
Bed rails come in a variety of styles. These come from
Putco
and include LED lights.
In addition to its function, bed rails are great for improving a truck’s look. These rails are available in a number of different sizes, styles (some include LED lights, which is great for night time driving), and colors. All of these attributes allow customers to choose the perfect bed rail for their ride. All of the bed rails offered at 4wheelonline are made with a durable stainless steel that will not rust. This ensures that trucks will stay looking fresh and cool for a very long time.
Truck Bed Rail Installation
As far as installation goes, it doesn’t matter what style bed rail you choose because the installation process is pretty similar for all. Before you start installing, it’s always wise to read through the manual to see what needs to be done for your specific bed rail. But, most installations usually follow these simple steps:
Open up your package and check to see that all of your parts and accessories are there. This includes the rails, washers, and bolts. Also, if drilling is necessary, you’ll need to make sure that you have the appropriate tools to get the job done.
There are very few tools required to install a bed rail. If your bed doesn’t have stake pocket holes, a drill will be one of the tools you need.
Before you start any drilling or turning any bolts, hold the bed rail up to your truck to make sure that it is the appropriate length. Oftentimes, drivers skip this step and have to go back and undo work that has been done.
If your truck has stake pocket holes, place the bases of your bed rail over or into the holes.
If there are no stake pocket holes, you’re going to have to pull out the drill mounting holes where the rails should go. Make sure you make precise measurements because there’s nothing worse than unnecessarily damaging your truck bed.
From the underside of the truck bed perimeter, use the bolts and washers to tightly fasten the bed rails to your truck.
As you can see, the entire installation process is pretty easy. Even novice drivers can do an installation in thirty minutes or less. The key is to make sure you are properly prepared and don’t rush.
