American Racing Wheels Takes the Pole in Mid-Ohio
Sebastien Bourdais of
American Racing Wheels
had a tricky qualifying session in Mid-Ohio on august two. This did not pull him back in any way as he still managed to finish first for his second IndyCar start position in just two weeks. His first post-champ car pole was in Toronto on July 20. Bourdais is having a good run with KVSH Racing and is currently the four-time champ car World Series champion.
Winning in Mid-Ohio
After winning in Toronto, Bourdais was confident with himself in Ohio and he managed to finish first with a time of 1m24.1610s. He had this to say after the race, "We had pace earlier this year but got it wrong more often than not. Now, for one reason or another, it is finally going our way.” Bourdais also added that the wet weather conditions helped him so much as the
tires
were more stable and could do anything he wanted them to do. He said that in dry conditions, the results could have been different.
Winning this race was significant for Bourdais who said, "Jimmy was saying that all we need is a couple (races) to go our way and then we'll be on a roll." We all hope they are right and this is just the beginning of more victories to come. When he was asked how he has managed a good run with KVSH Racing, he said it all had to do with confidence and serenity when he is in the car. He added that he is never desperate to get good results and this helps him work with a clear mind, think clearly and make the right choices.
This win in Ohio upped his career poles to 33 drawing with Dario Franchitti at seventh place and breaking the tie with Michael Andretti. Overall, this seasons results have been hard to predict as none of the top four drivers are championship contenders.
Edging out Other Drivers
The race was competitive in Ohio with drivers such as rookie Carlos Munoz, Tony Kanaan, Josef Newgarden, Will Power and Ryan Hunter-Reay in the first six qualifying session. He managed to edge out Josef Newgarden from the Sarah Fisher Hartman racing team. With two minutes remaining in the race, Newgarden moved to the top spot giving Bourdais a run for his money.
Tony Kanaan on his part was third with Ryan Briscoe and Charlie Kimball staying all the way back. The series point leader, Helio Castroneves, was pushed to the 15th position in the 22-car field.
