The History of Kumho

Kumho Tires' history began in September 1960, first named as Samyang Tire, the predecessor of today's Kumho Tire. Throughout the years, Kumho has updated their facilities to further enhance their tire production. They have also established ties with UNI Royal of the USA and entered the world marketplace.

Kumho managed to achieve remarkable growth, becoming the leader in the tire sector in 1976 and was listed on the Korea Stock Exchange. In 1977, their development led to the establishment of Songjung plant II. Excellence has garnered for Kumho the grand prize of the Korea Quality Control Award in 1979 and it helped them polish their corporate image with the public.
