TruXedo Deuce Cover Installation

TruXedo Deuce Cover Installation

The Truxedo Deuce Tonneau Cover is the only soft tonneau cover that offers the dual folding capacity which means it not only rolls from the rear but also has a front 30-inch panel that folds back for quick access of the truck bed. This cover comes partially preassembled and packaged well in one box. Inside the box, you will find the cover assembly, two side rails, 2 sub rails, square blocks and 8 clamps. The tools needed to install the Truxedo Deuce tonneau cover include the 9/16 inch wrench, a tape measure, a pencil and two spring clamps that will be used to hold the side rails.

Install the Square Blocks

Before installing the square blocks, make sure you first apply the bulkhead seal if your truck model requires one. Make sure to apply it on a clean surface. When installing the square blocks, start by removing the backing tape and position it a quarter inch above the side rail on the bulkhead. Do this on the left and right sides of the truck bed.

Install the under Body Rails

After attaching the square blocks, the under body rails will need to be installed as they will hold the tonneau cover in position. To do this, you will need to measure 30 and ¼ inches from the backside of the square blocks we just installed. Identify the right side rail to use and press it against the side rail and compress it against the front square block. While doing so, apply downward pressure and use your spring clamps to hold it in place.

Attach the adjustable clamps, one underneath the striker plate and one towards the rear of the rail. Do this on both sides of the truck bed but do not over tighten the clamps just yet.

Mount the Side Rail

When installing the side rails, it is a good idea to do this with the tailgate in the upright position. Use the side rail to compress the rear seal and push it inward and downward to get optimum seal. Make sure the under body and side rails have a good seal to ensure water does not pass through. Use the spring clamps to hold the side rail in place and attach the clamps. Make sure the top of the clamp goes as high up the side rail as possible to ensure they are levelled.

Install the Main Cover

Attach the header of the cover into the header stab and engage the header slide into the lock position. Do this on both the left and right sides of the truck bed. Apply the safety straps and rotate the cover into the lock position on the front section of the truck bed. Listen for multiple clicks as this will mean that the cover is locked into position. The cover is now fully installed and to close it, you will just need to undo the safety straps.
