Nitto Tires: Performance On-Street and Off-Road

Nitto Tires: Performance On-Street and Off-Road

If you aren’t getting any traction you’re not going anywhere. Tires are one of the most overlooked components of a vehicle, but dollar-for-dollar a good tire offers a bigger performance gain than anything.

Without traction from your tires
you’ll be going nowhere

Whether it’s off-road or on-track a good set of tires will knock whole seconds off the stopwatch. That’s the sort of advantage that competitors and engineers have to spend tens of thousands of dollars on to achieve. No amount of suspension mods and engine tweaks can equal the advantage tires that are properly suited to the conditions will provide.

Nitto Tire – Passion for Performance

It’s this passion for performance on the road and off it that drives Nitto Tire. Like the engineers on a racecar striving to get every last hundredth of a second out of it, Nitto’s engineers are constantly seeking ways to improve the performance of its tires.

As advances in polymer tire tread compounds continue to be made, so Nitto develops new and innovative tread patterns that optimize a tire’s traction and behavior under driving conditions. Nitto’s road tires stick to the tarmac like glue and its off-road tires grapple themselves to the terrain for unsurpassed grip.

The Grappler Truck Tire Range

Knowing that a tire’s performance is determined by the contact patch between tire and ground, Nitto have developed a range of 5 Grappler Truck tires, each aimed at particular driving surfaces and conditions. At the extreme end is the Mud Grappler designed for the most challenging off-road terrains, while at the other end of the spectrum the Dura Grappler is at home on dirt or tarmac.

Technological Highlights of Grappler Tires

Nitto Tire makes a range of Grappler Truck tires

Nitto has engineered-in plenty of technology to the Grappler range. Each tire has its particular strengths for any given application, but highlights include:

  • High void ratio to clear mud and dirt – Mud Grappler.
  • Tapered 3D groove provides added bite off-road – Trail Grappler.
  • Reduced siping to widen contact patch – Dune Grappler.
  • Staggered shoulder lugs aid traction – Terra Grappler.
  • 3 steel belts give stability and longevity – Dura Grappler.

If all this technology stuff is a bit too boring, Nitto does have an ace up its sleeve – its Grappler tires look awesome! Big and bold styling prevails on each, but if you really want a tire that looks the part, the Dune Grappler is it. With its swirling tread pattern curving over the tire’s shoulder and Gothic style letting on the sidewall, the Dune Grappler is one sick looking tire.
