Loading and Unloading Your Motorcycle on a Kendon Trailer
Loading or unloading a motorcycle to a motorcycle trailer is an easy job that takes 60 seconds or less. Motorcycle loading is an easy but high-risk process that can be very dangerous if not done right. To load the motorcycle to a trailer requires the right equipment, knowledge and skills. For those who may not be aware, vehicle damage, death and serious injuries have been reported in different circumstances when loading or unloading motorcycles to trailers or pickup trucks.
It may seem impossible but remember accidents do happen when we don’t expect them to and the best we can do is prepare ourselves and cover our tracks to be safe. To ensure you are safe when loading or unloading your motorcycle, we will discuss two factors to consider anytime you are working with
Kendon trailers
.
Apply Science
When dealing with Kendon trailers, you will need to observe some of the basic principles of science. When the bike is in motion, it is easy to forget its effects on stability and balance. The gyroscopic effects of the drive trains and wheels help keep the motorcycle upright. These forces do not come into play when the motorcycle is being pushed a ramp up to the trailer stands.
Pushing the motorcycle slowly up the trailer means that you are balancing dead weight and this may be quite dangerous if not done right. Since the motorcycle is not moving that fast, loading/unloading it to a trailer is physically challenging and even more difficult than riding it. To ensure you are safe, make sure you can balance its weight and move it slowly until it gets to the top.
Be Practical
To load or unload your motorcycle from the trailer, you will have to be practical throughout the process. You will also need to learn from experiences you have had before. When loading or unloading motorcycle to trailers, dropping and loss of balance top the list of the bad things that can happen. The weight of the motorcycle and the ramp angle should guide you when loading or unloading. A heavy motorcycle will definitely need more than one person if it is to be loaded or unloaded safely.
A steep ramp makes the loading/unloading process difficult and care must be taken in such situations. To be practical, you may need to use a ramp with a manageable loading angle just to be safe and make it easier for yourself. Most Kendon trailers have just the right angles to make them easy to use and practical. Avoid loading or unloading the motorcycle when the ramp is wet as this can lead to serious injuries.
