Travis Pastrana Partners With BF Goodrich Tires

Travis Pastrana, X-Games gold medalist, the godfather of motocross and star of the TV show Nitro Circus, has tried his hands at multiple extreme motorsports throughout his career, including Stock Car racing, Rallycross and Stage Rally, but now the famed racer has a new plan for his career.

The Baja Trophy and Trick truck racing is about as extreme as you can get off-road, which is probably why Pastrana is attracted to event. According to Baja racers, the Trophy trucks are the fastest vehicles in the world on loose sand. They’re built to resemble modern pickup trucks, but that’s about the only thing they have in common with street legal automobiles.

Pastrana’s Off-Road Machine

The BF Goodrich Trophy Truck is outfitted (of course) with the company’s most aggressive off-road tires fittingly called the Baja T/A. These tires have been breaking records in the harshest racing conditions for more than 20 years.

Some of the qualities of Pastrana’s BF Goodrich Tires include:

When asked what he thinks about the BF Goodrich Tires, Pastrana says, “The product they provide is unmatched and I’m really looking forward to getting out there this year and having some fun.”

However, for the BF Goodrich Baja TA tires to really show its capabilities, there needs to be a machine sitting on top of them that can push the tires to its limits. In accordance with regulations, Pastrana drives a Trophy Truck that is out of this world.

Most 2-wheel drive Trophy Trucks (like Pastrana’s) feature a 4130 chromoly tube-frame chassis covered by a fiberglass shell. The engines are naturally aspirated and tuned in excess of 700 HP. To handle the tough terrain of the desert races, suspension travel can exceed 30 inches, which also allows BF Goodrich to run larger Baja Tires in the race. Most Trophy trucks use independent A-arm suspensions up front with a solid axle in the rear. To dampen the suspension during jumps, one or two shock absorbers are placed over each wheel.

What’s Next For Travis Pastrana?

Pastrana has joined Menzies Motorsports as well as BF Goodrichto to start his 2014 off-road season. The racing beginns with the Mint 400 in Las Vegas in late March and then the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series in Lake Elsinore, California in April 25-26.

Earlier this month, Pastrana said he has enormous gratitude toward BF Goodrich for helping him with his racing.

“BF Goodrich has supported me throughout the years in quite a few things I’ve done, so when it came time to figure out what tire to run for my off-road races this year it was an easy decision to partner up with BF Goodrich,” says Pastrana. “The product they provide is unmatched and I’m really looking forward to getting out there this year and having some fun.”

Pastrana will proceed to his third, race in 2014, at the Baja 1000 where he will co-drive with team associate, Bryce Menzies this coming November; and you better believe that he will be riding on some BF Gooodrich Baja Tires.
