General Tires' Remarkable Record in Off Road Racing

On the 4th and 5th of October, General Tires was present at the 2014 Lucas Oil Off Road Expo where the largest collection of companies involved with off road parts, equipment and vehicles came together to showcase their brands and connect with off road enthusiasts. This year the event was held at Fairplex in Pomona California and was attended by over 300 off road vendors.

General Tires was stationed in two booths where they displayed various off road vehicles, including the Rippin Rooster which was used by Jim Riley in the NORRA 1000; the Pro-Lite Truck- a famous off road truck driven by Ryan Beat; the Ligenfelt Chevrolet Reaper; the Jeepspeed JK and the BITD 7100 Truck from Camburg Racing. On each day of the expo, several lucky visitors won two sets of tires from General Tires for stopping by the General Tires display booth.

Along with the LOOR expo, Lucas Oil also hosts the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series which has arguably become the most popular off road racing series in America.

About Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series

The series has been ongoing since 2009 and was founded by Lucas Oil’s head, Forrest Lucas. A number of Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Champions have had a taste of what it feels like to win with General Tires in the past. In its inaugural season, Carl Renezeder was the first off road driver to have come off with two national championships at the series. These were the Unlimited 2 and Unlimited 4 classes. He is one of the most renowned racers using General Tires. After his 100 race winning record, Carl won his ninth consecutive Pro-4 race using General Tires’ Grabber tire.

He has since established his spot as the number one Pro-4 record title holder. Since then the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series has spawned more and more multi-title winning champions such as Brian Deegan and Sheldon Creed who have taken home three titles in the Pro Lite Unlimited division.

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series isn’t the only off road racing series General Tires is involved in. It is held in Las Vegas Nevada and began around the same time as the NORRA series in 1967. The series is famous for being the most challenging desert series as the terrain on the race course used in the Mint 400 is characterized with all sorts of obstacles from jagged rock, dry lakebeds, Joshua tree forests and deep silt. Fortunately General tires team of racers includes pros such as Mike Childress who have used the formidable variety of off road tires manufactured by the company to win titles in the series.
