Jeremy McGrath/Fuel Offroad Tires Wins First Podium Finish of 2014

By: James Langston

Recently Jeremy McGrath partnered with Fuel offroad tires for the 2014 season of the Lucas Oil Off Road Series. The partnership has proved to be instrumental for McGrath as he has been having a good season so far. He has managed to stay on the map the whole season but never had a podium finish till round 10 of the Lucas Oil off Road Series. We may not all know Fuel for their tires, but instead for their Fuel Wheels

The sponsorship agreement will see McGrath run on Fuel Anza wheels for the rest of the season. With this new partnership, McGrath formed his own team that will carry him forward. McGrath who has had over 100 career wins is looking at a brighter future with this new partnership.

Round 10 of the Lucas Oil off Road Series

Jeremy McGrath and his JM2 Motorsports team had a great day at the 10th round of the Lucas Oil off Road series that was held at Glen Helen. This round was significant for McGrath as he did not have a good one the previous night during round 9 when he finished at 4th place. This means that they qualified 4th for the Pro 2 Unlimited class.

The event was marked by rain making it tough even for seasoned racers. This did not discourage McGrath as he managed to stay in the lead for the first six laps. As he was in his #2 Loctite/Fuel Off-Road Chevrolet he managed to stay ahead of veterans including Marty Hart, Bryce Menzies, Rob MacCachren, and Brian Deegan.

The race progressed with unpredictably and at some point, Renezeder's left front suspension could not take it anymore. As they restarted McGrath stormed to the lead and stayed there for a while before Menzies out-manoeuvred him for the lead. Menzies pulled away but McGrath was not far behind.

In the end, McGrath finished second marking his best result after forming his own team for the 2014 season. Menzies was first with Deegan with his #38 truck coming in a distant third. MacCachren was fourth with Clark rounding up the top five list.

After the action at Glen Helen Raceway, McGrath is hopeful for another podium finish for the upcoming events. This weekend was full of surprises for him and given this was his first podium finish for 2014, he will definitely not forget about it soon. The next event will head back north to Sparks, Nevada. The Wild West Motorsport park will host rounds 11and 12 of the Lucas Oil off Road racing series. These will be held on August 22-23.
