About th Jeepster Commando
In 1966, Jeep released the Jeepster Commando to compete with the Bronco and Land Cruiser. The Jeepster Commando was available in three models: a convertible, pickup truck, and a wagon. With sales on the rise for larger truck-like vehicles, The Jeep Commandos quickly became a favorite. With much thought and deliberation, AMC purchased Jeep from Kaiser. There they made a critical decision to change the design to mimic the front of the notorious Bronco. Soon after that fatal decision, sales plummet and production came to an all-time halt. For those who owned and currently own a Jeep Commando feel that they are one of the best vehicles that was ever made and continue to cherish it.
While the Jeepster Commando only remained in production for a few years, it was a popular Jeep model that enjoys a loyal following to this day. The Jeepster Commando's that are still on the road are considered prized possessions by vintage automobile and Jeep enthusiasts.
