Installing the Truck-Lite LED Headlights

Truck Lite has been manufacturing quality aftermarket headlights for decades. The company’s products are preferred by most off roaders due to their high quality nature and low energy consumption. In this article, we will list down the steps needed to install the Truck-Lite LED Headlights on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler. Before you begin the installation process, it is good to know that there are special connectors required to install these headlights on any Wrangler model between 2007 and 2013.

Remove the Grille

The first thing you should do is remove the grille. This may seem like a difficult process but it’s actually very easy. There are six plastic rivets on top of the grill frame and you will have to remove them using a screwdriver. Be careful not to remove the paint on your Jeep. After removing all the rivets, keep them in a safe place as they will be needed when you are reinstalling the grille.

Pull out the grille and it will snap out. To remove the grille completely, unscrew the turn indicator bulbs that are holding it to the truck. Put both the grille and the indicator bulbs in a safe place.

Remove the Trim Ring

The trim ring is around the headlight and this requires a T15 Torx Bit. Use a magnetic one to prevent the screws from falling off. In total, there are four screws to be removed. This will take you a minute or so depending on how fast you are. Once all screws are removed, remove the trim ring and keep it safe as it will be needed when installing the Truck Lite headlight later.

Disconnect the Lamp from Harness

Remove the headlight slightly from the socket until you see its rear part. At this point, you will be able to see the connector that has a red clip. Unclip the red clip by pulling it backwards towards the engine of the vehicle. Push the tab down completely and pull out the lamp.

Connect the Adapters and the LED Lamps

Plug the adapter until you here a snap sound then reverse the clip process pulling the red clip towards the front. When the adapters are in place, connect the Truck Lite LED lamps. The headlight comes with an H4 connector which you will have to plug in to the H13 adapter. Position the lamp properly and re-install the trim ring. Once in position, use your Torx driver to install your screws. Do not tighten the screws just yet until you are sure they are all in position.
