How 100 Years of Experience Have Enhanced Kelly Tires

As one of the oldest tire manufacturers in the U.S, Kelly Tires knows a thing or two about making tires that last longer. In fact the company’s construction model has had to evolve with the development of the automobile industry from the buggy car days to today’s wide variety of modern vehicles. Its range of tires is up to speed with the various tire speed ratings that exist and are also designed for an all inclusive range of load indices. In addition to this, Kelly Tires are able to perform in different weather conditions. Kelly’s winter tires for instance are known to provide excellent traction over snow and ice. With a specialized compound applied when manufacturing these tires, they are able to resist the negative effects of temperature fluctuations.

Better Treads

The tread designs used on Kelly Tires define their intended function quite well. Kelly Signature tires for instance are the ideal tires for driving on paved streets and light gravel. They have a uniform tread pattern and a square shoulder design, both of which are intended to reduce its noise profile to a minimum. The tire has superb handling ability and is thus able to maintain the course even when driven at high speeds.

For more off road purposed tires such as the Safari, the treads come in a more rugged and offset design. They are wider and deeper to allow for better wet traction. Not only do these treads push out water streams to avert the chances of hydroplaning, they also feature self cleaning grooves which push out snow and mud as well.

Efficient Construction

All Kelly Tires are constructed using radial technology. This assures that there is minimum resistance and friction between the layers of construction material lying underneath the rubber. As a result heat build-ups are kept at a minimum thus extending the longevity of the tire. This construction approach also reinforces the strength of the sidewalls, keeping them from puncturing easy.

Matching Sizes

The different series of tires from Kelly Tires vary in size. Their section widths range between 7 inches and 11.5. Some of the tires are smaller in width, making them better suited for passenger cars and family sedans. The larger tire widths such as those found in the Safari TSR and Safari ATR are suited for light off road trucks. The Safari series of tires has section widths spanning 8 to 11.5 inches. This affords them the stability needed to combat any grueling uneven off road terrains. In addition to this, they are made with higher load indices. The Safari TSR is offered with a maximum load index spec option of 127 which has a Q speed rating.
