Falken Tires Tackles Mount Everest

Falken Tires is all about adrenaline and adventure. For two and a half decades, they’ve been working on and developing these ideals through their Ultra High Performance products. Of course, to fine tune and improve their products, Falken has become extremely involved in professional motorsports and extreme sporting.

Falken Runs Rampant Over the Motorsports World

Since their inception in 1983, one of Falken’s main focuses has been to dominate the professional motorsports world. And that’s exactly what they’ve done. Over the past few years, Falken Tires has run rampant over the world’s racing circuit. Some of their most impressive accolades include:

  • Wins at both the 2013 and 2014 King of the Hammers event (one of the world’s biggest off-road races).
  • Taking 1st place in the GT class at last year’s ALMS Petit Le Mans race.
  • Back to back Formula Drift championships in 2010 and 2011 (check out the Falken team in the video to the right).
Today, there are very few companies that can claim this type of success, which has caused Falken to double down on their investments in an attempt to rule the motorsports world. In recent months, Falken has announced partnerships with world-renowned drivers like Matt Messer and Jessi Combs. They’ve also announced a renewal to continue competition in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championships.

Falken Racing team manager, Derrick Walker, commented on their decision to continue on in the TUDOR circuit, “The commitment [Falken has] given to racing has been amazing. They're a very determined company to produce quality tires in the toughest environment. This news is great for racing.”

Falken Takes on Everest!!

Even with all of their success in the racing world, Falken still wants to push the envelope and expand their company in new directions. That’s because they don’t want to be a one dimensional company, and they want to bring new, innovative ideas to their automotive company. So last month, Falken Tires announced one of the raddest ventures in recent memory: a sponsorship of wing suit jumper Joby Ogwyn’s leap off the summit of Mt. Everest! This event will be aired live on the Discovery Channel and is the perfect event for a company that is always trying to push the boundaries.

Richard Smallwood, president and CEO of Falken tires, also believes that this event will help his company become even better at what they do. He says, “As Falken grows, so does our consumer base, and we feel sponsoring a wide variety of events- from motorsports to Joby’s triumphs as a climber and flight suit jumper- will generate the kind of awareness we relish- as a brand like Joby- and Discovery Channel- that ‘pushes the envelope’ of performance.”

Obviously, there is nothing more adventurous or challenging than jumping off of the world’s largest cliff! And it’s no surprise that Falken wants to take this challenge. They’ve spent years dedicating their service to helping provide drivers with adventure in their own lives. Through quality tires that can take on any challenge, Falken is a company that garners the utmost respect, and I can’t wait to see what happens as they take on Everest. Falken is equally excited, too. Smallwood says, “Clearly, this type of jump is something only a select few can attempt, let alone accomplish, and Falken Tire is very excited to be along for the ride.”
