A resonator is an suplimentary sound neutralizing device that works in conjunction with the muffler and helps to further reduce the noise produced by the engine. Its construction resembles a simplified muffler and it basically operates like the resonator chamber of a muffler. It reflects sound waves back, canceling out sound in the exhaust within a given frequency range. This part is located a certain distance from the muffler to provide the resonant effect.
