Champion Tony Pedregon’s Partnership with American Racing Wheels

Tony Pedregon’s legendary career has been catapulted by a successful relationship with American Racing.

Who Is Tony Pedregon?

Over the past 20 years, Tony Pedregon has earned his place as NHRA one of the most legendary racers of all-time. His debut race was in 1993, and in 1995, he won his first race and finished the season 2nd in overall points. Each year, Pedregon walks away with victories from multiple races, but perhaps, his most prestigious accomplishment is that he’s a two time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car Champion.

Tony and His Brother

Successful partnerships have been part of the foundation of Tony’s success throughout his career. Amazingly, Tony is not the only one in his family to be a NHRA star; his brother Cruz Pedregon is also a two time NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car Champion.

Cruz has helped Tony to form one of the strongest partnerships and collaborations in all of racing. The rivalry between the two has been fierce over the years, and they were even pitted against each other in the Funny Car Finals in 1997 (Tony won the race).

Tony sees the relationship with his brother as a rivalry and a partnership that has spurred both of them on to great things. Tony says, “Cruz is very intense and he works at a level that I like to. [NHRA Racing] is a major challenge and I think that Cruz is like me in that the more the odds are stacked against us, the more we want to do it… If you can work with your brother and your family, I think that is great. Not only are you doing what you want to do, but with the people you want to.”

Tony and American Racing Wheels: The Wheels Are Important!

Undoubtedly, strong bonds have helped Tony Pedregon have success in the drag racing world. Complimenting his partnership with his brother Cruz is Tony’s successful relationship with American Racing Wheels. In 2013, the two signed on to continue their partnership in the years to come. Tony said, “It has been a great experience learning about the American Racing brand and getting to share and continue their passion about racing. America Racing is an iconic wheel brand, and we are thrilled to have them continue their marketing activity through our race team.”

The success between the two has already shined through during the 2013 season; Pedregon reached the quarterfinals of the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series just last month and has plans to race in two more events this year.

Over the years, American Racing has been very excited about the partnership as well. It allows them to get back to their roots; American Racing Marketing Director Rhett Sanders says, “Our heritage and history are closely tied to drag racing. Our company’s very first wheels were built for drag racing back in the 1950s.” Based on the unbelievable success of their partnership with Tony Pedregon, I can’t say I’m surprised.
