All There Is To Know About ATV Lights

All Terrain Vehicles are mostly used in the tough off road settings that may not be easy to drive through at night. This problem can be solved by fitting aftermarket ATV lights for improved visibility. These lights come in two main types that include the sealed beam lights and the projector beam lights.

Difference Between Sealed Beam and Projector Beam Lights

Sealed beam lights are mostly offered as factory original lights which is not the case for projector beam lights. The projector beam lights are usually much brighter and cover a wider area making them perfect for using on the darkest terrains out there. Some riders prefer using LED ATV lights when driving through dark areas because these lights occupy a smaller space and shine brighter than the sealed beam lights.

Upgrading the ATV lights is one of the best ways of improving performance capabilities of the ATV at night. The original equipment headlights provide the minimum lighting capability that needs to be upgraded for those who want a better experience in the dark. Most aftermarket ATV lights are easy and quick to install without any drilling or modification.

Ensuring Improved Performance

Adding aftermarket ATV lights is a good way of upgrading the lighting when off roading but too many lights may add strain to the ATV. When adding the high performance projector beam lights, the ATV may require upgrading of the charging system or battery for the electric draw to be maintained. Some manufacturers such as QuadBoss offer lights in kits that may include the upgraded charging system parts.

The kits normally include the replacement lights, upgraded charging system parts and the wiring harness that can support the increased voltage. Installing the lights without upgrading the wiring may result in complications that may disrupt your off road experience. Replacing the wiring harness is a very easy process requiring little or no technical skills. This is because the old harness is easy to come out and the new one is a snap-in fit.

Most aftermarket lights produce too much heat that may damage the plastic body panels if not properly maintained. Some manufacturers include templates that allow ATV owners to clear the openings and avoid heat accumulation. Other manufacturers have mounting brackets that make it easier to add the aftermarket lights to the steel rack system. Mounting the aftermarket lights on the luggage rack provides a greater beam of light while at the same time reducing heat accumulation as it is in the open.
