Q. Bluetooth security
A. The way that Bluetooth works is that the device must broadcast its presence in order to be found. The headset does this only in pairing mode, which is why you can not find the headset with your phone or computer if it is not in pairing mode. Bluetooth connections for headsets are all encrypted to provide a secure link between the phone and headset. This provides Headset applications of Bluetooth technology with the highest security levels of any other application.
Q. Can I pair an scala-rider/scala-57 headset with another Bluetooth headset?
A. No, the only way to talk rider to pillion (in the current format) is by buying a scala-rider Teamset. Stand alone headsets such as the scala-rider/scala-57 can only be paired with Bluetooth enabled remote devices (ie mobile phones, GPS units).
Q. Can't answer calls using the VR feature.
A. 1. Make sure the VR is enabled.
2. Make sure you utter the word loudly after hearing the ringing in the headset.
Q. How do I redial on the Scala Rider?
A. While no call is in progress, tap the redial/reject to redial the last number.
Q. How do I tighten the mic clamp of the scala-rider on my helmet?
A. Included with the scala-rider is an Allen Wrench. It is used for tightening the sliding clamp to the helmet
Q. How does the pillion
A. The Bluetooth connection to an external device is made through the rider
Q. How to answer calls using voice recognition.
A. When you hear an incoming call pronounce loudly any word of your choice within 7 seconds to answer the call.
Q. How to enable/disable the Voice Recognition feature.
A. Press and hold the volume up and volume down keys simultaneously for 3 seconds.
Q. How to reject calls using voice regognition.
A. When you hear an incoming call, remain silent for seven seconds to reject the call.
Q. I cannot terminate calls by tapping the control button.
A. Depending on the bluetooth profile the phone supports, some commands may work differently.
Q. Is it okay to use this product in the rain?
A. While this product is water resistant, it is not waterproof. It should not be used in heavy rain or snowfall. In any event, the silicone cover protecting the charging jack should always be tightly closed when exposed to any rain or snowfall.
Q. Is the battery removable?
A. The battery is not removable and you should never try to open the headset. The Headset should be serviced by authorized personnel only.
Q. Is the Bluetooth Intercom waterproof?
A. Although there is no official IP rating for the bluetooth Intercom, the actual Bluetooth unit itself is rubberized and is sealed from water and dust ingress. The contacts between the headset assembly and the Bluetooth unit are spring loaded and as such there is no seal to be broken anytime the headset and Bluetooth unit is connected
I
Q. s this product compatible with the A2DP profile?
A. At this time none of the Cardo products are compatible with the A2DP profile.
Q. My driver and passenger units are not synched together?
A. These two devices are supplied factory synchronized for intercom communication. However, if for any reason you need to re synch them to each other use the following steps:1.Simultaneously press and hold the intercom buttons on each device for at least 10 seconds while watching the status light on the passenger unit.2.Once the status light on the passenger unit lights steady red, wait three seconds then release both intercom buttons.3. The steady red status light on the Passenger unit will switch to a steady blue light for a few seconds, then begin flashing blue.
Q. The other party complains that they can't hear me well.
A. Make sure that the microphone is positioned in front of your mouth.
Q. What if I have trouble hearing the other party?
A. Try to increase volume by pressing the volume up button on the rear of the headset. You may also wish to try repositioning the speakers inside of your helmet.
Q. What is the acceptable range between units for the Intercom feature to work? Can it be used bike to bike?
A. The acceptable intercom range is just a few feet. The product is designed specifically for driver to passenger and is not intended for bike to bike communications.
Q. What is the bluetooth passkey?
A. The passkey, 0000, is a common industry standard passkey for headsets and other devices.
Q. While riding and using the scala rider Teamset, the gain will shoot the volume up to it's max setting and it can't be manually
A. On the new revision this problem was solved and now the rider can change the volume when the AGC is up.
Q. Why does my scala-rider Teamset Intercom not work when I try it in my living room?
A. The scala-rider Teamset Intercom uses noise cancelling technology that constantly samples levels of background noise. When it hears none (ie in living room or showroom) it assumes it is not needed and goes into standby mode to save battery life. This is signalled by 2 beeps heard in your headset. When there is background noise (ie from wind noise or bike engine) the intercom circuit stays on and you or your pillion should be able to experience full duplex conversations. You can also get round this by using the "Always On" function.
Q. Will other Bluetooth phones interfere with my Teamset? Can they eavesdrop?
A. No. Once you are paired, your identity is known only to the mobile phone you use and no other Bluetooth phone can hear your audio signals.
Q. How can I improve audio quality?
A. There is a lot you can do to improve the audio of your SCALA RIDER.
Start by making sure you have placed both of your speakers inside your helmet so that both of them actually touch your ears.
