Do you know where your garage door opener remote is? Sure, it may be clipped to your visor, in your purse or your jacket pocket, under or between the seats, or in the glove compartment, or maybe it's stashed away in the console. Perhaps it just drove away in the other car.

Hopefully you know what kind of battery it requires too, you replace it every year or so. It’s a nine-volt, or is it two AA’s? You might want to check before you buy new ones…

You might even worry about somebody stealing your remote garage door opener and using it to get into your house.

F2P Technologies solved these problems by electronically integrating the activation of your garage door opener remote into the high beam switch of your turn signal lever.
  • A double flash of your headlight high beams opens or closes your garage door
  • A small one time investment gets you the maintenance free system
  • No remote transmitter to get stolen or lost
  • No battery to buy or replace… Flash2Pass™ gets its power from your car
  • Digital encrypted signal and rolling code technology for ultimate securityv
  • Quick and easy do-it-yourself installationv
  • Up to six transmitters may operate a single receiverv
  • Additional receivers may be installed elsewhere and programmed to your Flash2Pass™ equipped vehicle
  • Works with virtually any garage door opener manufactured since 1982
The Transmitter is a relatively small radio frequency device (approximately 2” x 2” x ¾”) that is attached under the hood with either the included screws, or the plastic zip tie. The wires are attached with Posi-Tap™ connectors to the headlight high beam positive wire and to the ground wire. The Flash2Pass™ transmitter is non-polarized so you can attach either wire to the headlight wires.

The Flash2Pass™ receiver is designed to replace the pushbutton inside your garage. If you have additional functions on your pushbutton that you would like to keep, the receiver can be installed next to your original pushbutton and “piggybacked” to it.

The Flash2Pass™ transmitter and receiver are pre-programmed at the factory and packaged as a set , or they are available individually. As an example, if you have a two-car garage with one large door for both bays, you would want to buy one set and an additional transmitter. The additional transmitter would be installed in the second vehicle and the receiver programmed to accept it.

If you have a vacation home with a garage door opener, you could get an additional Flash2Pass™ receiver for it and then program your car to it. That way, you would never have to remember to bring the remote with you. It will always rigth where you need it… both at home and on vacation.

Now, if you live in a gated community and the community installed the F2P Integrated Control Access System, you would be able to access the community gate, and your individual garage. F2P Technologies calls this the “gate to garage” concept. Also if you worked in a place that had some sort of parking control and the F2P ICAS were in place, you again could use your Flash2Pass™ transmitter to gain access, assuming you were authorized and/or programmed into the receiver.

Will the Flash2Pass™ transmitter work with all vehicles?
Yes! The Flash2Pass™ transmitter is ideal for automobiles, SUVs, trucks and motorcycles that have the “flash to pass” feature. Some older US made cars and trucks do not have the “flash to pass” on their turn signal stalk and must turn on their headlights in order to activate the Flash2Pass™ transmitter. Other vehicles such as snowmobiles, golf carts and riding lawn mowers can be equipped with the Flash2Pass™ transmitter, as long as they have a 12-volt electrical system.

Can I have more than one vehicle programmed to my Flash2Pass™ receiver?
Yes! You can easily add up to a total of six vehicles to one receiver. Once the additional Flash2Pass™ transmitter (available separately) is installed in the vehicle, it is programmed into the receiver by pushing a hidden button on the receiver with a paper clip. The whole process to program a new transmitter takes less than 30 seconds.

Can I put a second Flash2Pass™ receiver in a second garage, say at a vacation home, and use my installed Flash2Pass™ transmitter to activate it?
Yes! Additional receivers (available separately) may be installed in other locations. The transmitter already installed in your car, can be programmed to actuate a second receiver that has been programmed to accept it. This would also be true of gated communities that have the F2P ICAS gate system installed. You would be able to access the community gate, and also your individual garage with our “gate to garage” concept for gated communities.

Will the Flash2Pass™ system work on most garage door and gate openers?
Yes! The system is designed to work with most garage door and gate openers made since April 1982. The system incorporates the latest state-of-the-art digital technology as well as rolling code for safety, security, and convenience.

If I install a Flash2Pass™ system, can I still use my old handheld transmitter?
Yes! The Flash2Pass™ system simply parallels what's currently in place. If you want to use your old handheld remotes when you go for a walk, or a bike ride, they will work as before.

I have a car that came from the factory with a built-in garage door opener, and I would like to install the Flash2Pass™ system for my other car that doesn't have an opener. Are they compatible?
Yes! The Flash2Pass™ system will work with vehicle installed garage door openers as they are basically additional transmitters to the original opener. (Please see the fifth question above)

What is the range of the Flash2Pass™ transmitter?
The range should be at least 75 feet, somewhat dependent on placement of the transmitter under the hood and to a lesser extent, the placement of the receiver in the garage. For safety sake though, you should always have the garage door in sight while opening or closing it.

Does the Flash2Pass™ system work with newer automatic garage door openers that have rolling code?
Yes! The Flash2Pass™ system also has rolling code and does not effect or is not affected by the original system's rolling code.

If I back into my garage, will the Flash2Pass™ work?
Yes! The Flash2Pass™ system is a radio frequency (RF) device that is triggered by the headlight high-beam switch. Like your handheld transmitter the signal goes everywhere, so if you currently open your garage door with a handheld transmitter and back in, you can do the same with the Flash2Pass™.

Will the Flash2Pass™ work on my motorcycle?
Yes! The Flash2Pass™ system will work on a motorcycle, or for that matter on any vehicle with a 12-volt electrical system. (Please see the first question above)

I ride a motorcycle with the high beams on all the time. Will this affect the transmitter?
That is fine. The transmitter requires two clicks of the high-beam switch. If it doesn't get the second click within 2 seconds, it resets to neutral. Just remember to go back to low beams and then double click the high beam switch to open your garage or gate.

I have a headlight modulator on my motorcycle that continuously flashes the high beams. Can I still use Flash2Pass™?
Yes, as long as you install the transmitter "upstream" of the modulator. In other words, tap the high beam wires before they reach the modulator which is generally plugged into the back of the headlight.
Flash2Pass™ Installation The Flash2Pass™ transmitter and receiver are designed as a do-it-yourself installation. It is very simple and straight forward if you follow the instructions included in every set. If you purchase a separate Flash2Pass™ transmitter or receiver, instructions are not only included for installation but also for programming the transmitter/s to the receiver/s.

Transmitter installation in a car

The Flash2Pass™ transmitter is mounted under the hood of your car near one of the headlights. One wire from the transmitter will be attached to the headlight high beam positive wire, and the other transmitter wire will be attached to the headlight high beam negative (ground) wire. It doesn't matter which transmitter wire is attached to which headlight wire as the transmitter is non-polarized, which means it figures that out itself. The wires are attached with Posi-Tap™ connectors that do no harm to your vehicle's wiring. No wires are cut, they're just tapped into. This allows the transmitter to be removed when the vehicle is sold or traded in, and the transmitter can be attached under the hood with a plastic zip tie, which means the tie can be cut to remove the transmitter.

Transmitter installation on a motorcycle

Installation of the Flash2Pass™ transmitter on a motorcycle is very simple. Depending on the model of motorcycle, the easiest way to do it is to remove the headlight from the bucket as if you were changing the bulb, and connect the transmitter, as described above in the car installation. Then just tuck the transmitter into the bucket and reinstall the headlight. Again, this may not be applicable to every installation, but it is a general rule of thumb.

Receiver

The Flash2Pass™ receiver is even easier to install. There are two wires that go from the garage door opener motor to a pushbutton on the wall that you use to open the garage door from the inside. After disconnecting the power to the garage door opener, you will remove the pushbutton from the wall, undo the two wires from the back and attach them to the Flash2Pass™ receiver, and attach the receiver to the wall. Turn the power back on, and that's it!

If your current pushbutton console has functions other than to open the door, like light and lock switches, you can still keep those functions by using "jumper" wires from your current console to the Flash2Pass™ receiver. Complete instructions are included with every set and separate receiver.
