It was Joseph Knapp who founded Ducks Unlimited on January 29, 1937 in the United Stated. It was his deep concern and genuine interest about the increasing loss of wetlands and the effects it could bring on waterfowl hunting that lead him to establish DU. In 1983, DU was established in Canada. From this time, other divisions started its operation on other areas such as Latin America, Mexico, New Zealand and Australia. Apart from watching over and restoring waterfowl hunting, DU also helps the environment by restoring grasslands and watersheds, replanting forests, educating landowners and the like.
There are a lot of leading brands and companies dedicated in preserving the environment. In partnership with Ducks Unlimited, brands such as Artisans, Bank of America, Budweiser, Canadian National Railway Company, Mossy Oak, Shell Oil, United Country, Yamaha and many more contribute significantly to the conservation of our precious habitat. Other brands include American Electric Power, Arkat, Avery, Barton Cotton, Bass Pro Shops, Bayer Crop Science, Caterpiller, ChevronTexaco, ConocoPhillips, Federal Ammo, Jack Daniels Single Barrel, Mad Dog, Monsanto, NewPage, Outdoor Cap, Realtree, Reliant Energy, Whitewater and Winchester.
DU has been and continues to be the leader in habitat preservation. Along with other corporations, governments, NGO’s and private citizens, the company was now able to conserve above 12.6 million acres of waterfowl habitat in Northern America. It strives to work hand in hand with other concerned organizations and people that positively affect our natural world.
